Become a Facilitator in Residence (FIR)
Being a Facilitator in Residence is the perfect option for those who want to offer their skills without running a fully scheduled workshop, and combine this with a living-in-community experience and holiday.
Over the years, our FIRs have offered various types of self-development sessions, art therapy, voice and singing sessions, thai chi, chi gong, gestalt therapy, massages, theater, dance, aromatherapy, sessions on creative writing, astrology, sociocracy, coaching and group facilitation.
How does it work
Our Facilitators-in-Residence (FIR) program welcomes qualified practitioners of any holistic discipline to join as part time volunteers for a minimum of two weeks, and to offer their services to our guests and other volunteers on an ad-hoc basis. For a very convenient reservation fee of Euro 175/week we offer three vegetarian meals and accommodation in shared rooms with bathrooms or tents/yurt. A limited number of single rooms can be reserved with a supplement of Euro 150/week.
Facilitators-in-Residence can offer both group and 1-1 sessions, usually for the modest fee between 10 – 30 Euros per sessions or offer free sessions for full-time volunteers. This position is not so much about earning money, it is an opportunity for a community-building experience, about meeting many interesting people from all over the planet, sharing resources while enjoying a stunning nature with marvelous beaches.
Throughout the season, all workshop participants and volunteers have access to the services offered by our FIRs. As our scheduled workshops and retreats typically occupy the mornings from about 9:30-1:30, and the afternoons are beach and leisure time, FIRs usually offer their sessions in the early mornings before breakfast, afternoons or early evenings before dinner at 8:00pm
What is it like to be an FIR
As an FIR you are also a part-time volunteer and will join the community work rhythm. You will offer 3 hours of volunteering on 5 days per week. The volunteering in the mornings only includes light tasks like help to prepare meals, give a hand to the housekeeper or gardener, etc.
Being an FIR at Alexandros is an inexpensive working holiday and you are likely to make great connections both personally and professionally here. You will leave with some inspiring new ideas for the application of your work, having learned something about authentic living-in-community and deep sharing.
Alexandros is run by and as a full community comprising the unpaid volunteer staffers and guests. You’ll be joining the cooking team once in the week, and helping with clean up or gardening. The work is not onerous, 6-7 hr in the week. This makes our programs more affordable and helps us build community together.
Stay longer than just a week
Our very affordable (from €39o) Living-in-Community program welcomes you to stay on a week before or after your retreat to relax and fully enjoy this special unspoiled region of Greece.
